What happened to Brandon Swanson?
In May 2008, Brandon Swanson was on his way home for spring break when he was involved in a minor car accident and called his parents for assistance. Then he disappeared without a trace.
Brandon Swanson, 19, vanished under mysterious circumstances from a rural area northeast of Marshall in southwestern Minnesota in the early hours of May 14, 2008. Numerous searches of the surrounding area and bodies of water have been conducted since Brandon’s car was discovered. After nearly three years of searching, no physical evidence of what may have happened to Brandon has been discovered. Without a body and scant evidence, it is impossible to determine what happened to Brandon, leaving all possibilities open to conjecture.
On May 13, 2008, Brandon Swanson graduated from Minnesota West Community and Technical College. That evening, he and his friends celebrated both his graduation and a classmate’s departure with a party.
It was reported that alcohol was served at this gathering, but Swanson’s friends stated that he did not appear intoxicated when he left this party on May 14 at 12 a.m. He said he was on his way home to his parents’ house, which was about 30 minutes away from the party.
Swanson slammed his automobile into a ditch around 1:15 a.m. He requested assistance from his friends, but they claimed they never received his calls. Brandon called his parents at 1:54 a.m. to inform them that his car was stranded in a ditch on a gravel road. Brandon promised his parents that he would wait for them in his car, but when they came, neither he nor his vehicle were in sight.
Brandon Swanson reported seeing flashes in the distance, which he believed originated in Lynd. He informed his parents that it would be convenient for him to walk the remainder of the path and meet them at the parking lot of a Lynd pub.
